VIDEO: Top Gear Shooting in Israel with BMW Z3, Mazda MX-5 and Fiat Barchetta

Image
Thanks to one of Carscoop's commentators, we can now show you a video of Top Gear's trio of power obsessed presenters -that would be Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond- filming an episode in the Holy Land. As noted in our previous article with the scoop pictures, the cars of choice for Top Gear's latest escapade, are a trio of older generation roadster models - the BMW Z3, Mazda MX-5 and Fiat Barchetta. There's also a guy with a white racing helmet driving what looks like an old Suzuki Alto, but we're not sure if he's part of the Top Gear crew or if some fans of the show decided to make fun of The Stig. As always, any help with the translation, would be welcome. Watch the video after the jump. Hat tip to ' Mako '! _______________________________ VIDEO _______________________________

We're Goin' Surfin': Rental Corvette Abandoned in Pacific Ocean [With Videos]

Image
Some presumably drunk people out California way decided to have a little bit too much fun in their recently-rented Corvette and ended up parked in salt water halfway up the car's doors. Thankfully in this day and age everyone has some sort of video recording device within arm's reach, so we have some post-parking-surfing videos below. The story goes something like this: between two and four people - who may or may not have been racing - decided to roll on down to the end of Law Street (seriously) and take the normally pavement-pounding Corvette out to play in the sand. Once actually on the beach, the driver proceeded to do a few donuts, calmly drive the car into the water, and flee the scene. The report indicates that some people who were involved have been detained, and that at least some of the expenses involved in pulling the car out of the sand could be recouped. All I can say for certain is that puling a car out of wet sand and water must have been hard as hell due to the

LA Auto Show Design Contest Part 1: Cadillac, Honda, Maybach and Mazda Concepts

Image
For the past seven years, the most important automotive design studios in Southern California compete in a Design Challenge organized by the Los Angeles Auto Show. For this year's edition of the show, which runs November 19-29, the event planners decided to add an international flavor to the contest by inviting studios from Germany and Japan to join the competition for the very first time. The theme for the 2010 Design Challenge is the creation of a super-efficient and lightweight four-passenger car: "The objective is to envision an efficient, light-weight, four passenger vehicle (not to exceed 1,000 lbs.), that is both comfortable and safe, while delivering satisfactory driving performance without sacrificing the styling consumers demand. " Follow the break for the first group of concept models by Cadillac, Honda, Maybach and Mazda, and stay tuned for the second part. ___________________________ CADILLAC AERA ___________________________ 1000lbs/1000mi The Cadillac A

It took a bit longer than GM's $75,000 Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertible, which sold out in three minutes, but Porsche has managed to secure customer commitments for all 500 units of its limited production 911 GT2 RS less than two months after the supercar's world premiere at the Moscow Auto Show in August. According to the Stuttgart automaker, here in the U.S., the company has pre-sold 133 examples of the 911 GT2 RS, all of which will be delivered to their respective owners in February 2011. The new 911 GT RS is motivated by a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine boosted by two turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, producing 620-horsepower and 700Nm or 516 lb-ft of peak torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, with Porsche claiming 0-100km/h [62 mph] sprint time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h [205 mph]. The company also states that the new 911 GT2 RS is the fastest and most powerful road-going Porsche ever built turn
