Cadillac Recalling 2010MY SRX Crossover to Fix Power Steering Line

Image
General Motors said on Thursday it is issuing a voluntary safety recall of 3,996 Cadillac SRX crossovers from the 2010 model year due to a possible damage to the power steering line. According to the company, if the line is damaged, power steering fluid could leak and make its way onto hot engine parts resulting in a fire. GM said it is aware of one such fire in an unattended SRX related to this condition. "Based on GM analysis, the issue is believed to exist in only two or three of the recalled vehicles," the company said in a statement. The affected vehicles were built in December 2009, with 3,460 of those sold in the United States, while 341 were exported to China. The Detroit automaker said it will notify owners of the recalled SRX models and schedule an appointment for inspection with any necessary repairs to be performed free of charge. _______________________________ GALLERY _______________________________

GM Recalls Over 20,000 Cadillac CTS Models to Address Safety Issue with Glove Box

Image
General Motors said on Monday it has issued a recall on 20,224 Cadillac CTS and CTS-V cars from the 2009-2010 model year to replace the glove box compartment. NHTSA's tests showed in the event of a frontal crash, if the front passenger is not wearing a seat belt, the risk of leg injury is higher than permitted under Federal law. It goes without saying that despite the NHTSA's findings, passengers should wear their seatbelts at all times. Being a manufacturer recall , GM's dealers will replace the glove compartment assembly and, if necessary, in some vehicles modify the instrument panel structure, free of charge. The Detroit automaker said the safety recall is expected to begin on or before October 20, 2010. For more information, owners of the affected CTS and CTS-V models may contact Cadillac directly at 1-866-982-2339.

Who you gonna call? 1959 Cadillac Ghostbuster Replica heading up for auction at Historics

Image
A 1959 Cadillac that was first turned into an ambulance by coachbuilder S&S for a Church in Maryland, USA, and then underwent a full transformation to become the Ghostbuster movie car replica you see here, is now being auctioned at Historics at Brooklands forthcoming sale on the 25th of September. Having been saved from the crusher in 2007, coachbuilder Chris Reynolds has since spent £65,000 (about $100,000) to bring it up to shape and create a faithful recreation of the 1984 film car. "The car's ghostly presence is in stark contrast to the real life experience of bringing it back to life - and the cost of doing so!," says Chris Reynolds. "The car was about to be scrapped when I discovered it and the restoration has been a real labour of love, and hopefully it will find a worthy home." The larger than life Caddy measures 20ft long and 6.5ft wide, and tips the scales at a mighty 2.55 tones. It is powered by a 6.5 liter V8 engine that returns a gas-station-fri...

For this year's edition of the show, which runs November 19-29, the event planners decided to add an international flavor to the contest by inviting studios from Germany and Japan to join the competition for the very first time. The theme for the 2010 Design Challenge is the creation of a super-efficient and lightweight four-passenger car: "The objective is to envision an efficient, light-weight, four passenger vehicle (not to exceed 1,000 lbs.), that is both comfortable and safe, while delivering satisfactory driving performance without sacrificing the styling consumers demand. " Follow the break for the first group of concept models by Cadillac, Honda, Maybach and Mazda, and stay tuned for the second part. ___________________________ CADILLAC AERA ___________________________ 1000lbs/1000mi The Cadillac A...
